Charles E. Cheever
Managing Partner & Co-Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Cheever has over 30 years of credit, corporate finance and investment management experience as well as a distinguished track record of establishing and managing direct lending and credit-oriented funds. As a co-founder of Corsair Partners, LLC, Mr. Cheever has successfully raised and managed three credit funds – Corsair One, L.P., Corsair Special Situations Fund, L.P. and Corsair Special Opportunities Fund,L.P. -- that are dedicated to the small and middle market corporate loan market. At Corsair, Mr. Cheever is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and structuring transactions, with a particular focus on the manufacturing, energy and natural resource sectors. Mr. Cheever has also been a member of the Board of Directors of two companies, with one in the natural resources industry and one in the agricultural sector. Prior to Corsair, Mr. Cheever spent ten years at the Chase Manhattan Bank where he served as a workout officer in the Recovery and Restructuring Department. During his last five years at the bank, Mr. Cheever specialized in working with small to middle market companies. In addition, Mr. Cheever originated, analyzing and structured investments for the bank's distressed debt fund.  

Mr. Cheever received BBA and BA degrees from Southern Methodist University and spent several semesters studying in Israel, Spain and Mexico.


Ronald J. Buck
Managing Partner & Co-Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Buck has over 25 years of lending, corporate finance and investment management experience as well as a distinguished track record of establishing and managing direct lending and credit-oriented funds. As a co-founder of Corsair Partners, LLC, Mr. Buck has successfully raised and managed three credit funds – Corsair One, L.P., Corsair Special Situations Fund, L.P. and Corsair Special Opportunities Fund,L.P. -- that are dedicated to the small and middle market corporate loan market. At Corsair, Mr. Buck is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and structuring transactions, with a particular focus on the consumer products, restaurant and service industry sectors. Mr. Buck has also been a member of the Board of Directors of a publicly-traded company, where he was appointed the chair of the compensation committee and was also a member of the audit committee. Prior to Corsair, Mr. Buck was a Director and corporate bond analyst for three years in Standard & Poor's Retail and Restaurant group. Prior to Standard & Poor's, Mr. Buck spent six years at the Chase Manhattan Bank, with his tenure evenly split between financing leveraged buyouts in the bank's Middle Markets Division and serving as a workout officer in the Recovery and Restructuring Department. In the latter department, Mr. Buck was in charge of the bank's distressed loan sales, managed its distressed equity portfolio and analyzed and selected investments for the bank's distressed debt fund. Prior to Chase Manhattan, Mr. Buck held finance positions at Dillon Read & Co. and PaineWebber.

Mr. Buck received a BBA in Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


Gregory S. Pike
Managing Director – Loan Originations

Mr. Pike has over 40 years of corporate lending and investment management experience. At Corsair, Mr. Pike is primarily responsible for originating loans in the Midwestern and Northeastern regions of the U.S. Prior to Corsair, Mr. Pike spent over 20 years with National City Bank and Fifth Third Bank. At National City, Mr. Pike held credit, lending and management positions in the large national corporate and Ohio middle market lending divisions and also managed lending for the Private Banking division. With Fifth Third, Mr. Pike built and managed the commercial lending and credit departments in the Northeastern Ohio region and also served as the regional senior credit officer. Mr. Pike was also President and CEO of an Ohio-based community bank for a number of years which he grew and eventually sold to a large regional bank. Mr. Pike was also associated with Morgan Stanley and was a consultant at the Ohio Small Business Development Center.

Mr. Pike is a graduate of Ashland University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and attended Capital University Law School. Mr. Pike also served nine years as a board member of a not-for-profit organization, including five years as its treasurer.


Matthew Yu
Managing Director – Portfolio Management

Mr. Yu has over 20 years of credit, investing and corporate finance experience. His skill set includes underwriting, sourcing, structuring, advising and restructuring corporate loans and bonds. As a founding member of Sekor Partners, Matt Yu successfully raised and managed an opportunistic investment fund (joint venture with H.I.G. Cronus Capital) as well as advised companies on strategy, restructuring and capital underwriting matters. Prior to Sekor, Mr. Yu worked on Wall Street analyzing corporate, high yield and distressed securities at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as well as restructuring distressed companies at both J.P. Morgan Chase and Chanin Capital Partners. Matt has also advised emerging and startup companies on their capital raising and strategic growth efforts while working at Pacific Alliance Limited, a New York-based merchant banking firm.

Mr. Yu successfully completed J.P. Morgan Chase's credit training program and received his Masters Degree in International Finance from Columbia University and his B.A. in International Relations and Economics from Boston University graduating summa cum laude with distinction and with Phi Beta Kappa honors.
